東京 Tokyo - Tsukiji Fish Market 築地市場

The famous Tsukiji Market is a large wholesale market for fish, fruits and vegetables in central Tokyo.

The sight of the many kinds of fresh fish and other seafood and the busy atmosphere make Tsukiji Market a renowned place worldwide, being one of the world's largest fish markets, handling over 2,000 tons of marine products per day.

Tsukiji Market consists of an inner market where most of the wholesale business and the famous tuna auctions are taking place, and an outer market whose retail shops and restaurants cater to the public. A few restaurants are also found in the inner market.

A visit to Tsukiji Market is best combined with a fresh sushi breakfast or lunch at one of the local restaurants. Believe me, you cannot eat your sushi fresher than this!

But to be honest, the amount of fish and seafood you will see there, knowing the same amount is here everyday, will make you realize why Japan is sadly knowned to destroy sea life at an alarming rate, and although it was impressive, it left us with an uneasy feeling getting to sea the endless amount of killed creatures...

If you want to get there, the market is located near the Tsukijishijō Station on the Toei Ōedo Line and Tsukiji Station on the Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line.
